Surfboard + SUP hire available daily!
With expert advice on where to go to suit your ability + the conditions on the day, surfboard hire is available to you daily right here in Currarong. We’ll drop the boards to you at the beach or your accommodation, and even throw in free wetsuit hire to say thanks!
Not keen on the waves? Hire one of our brand new stand up paddle boards for a couple of hours, half day or full day + explore the crystal clear beauty of Currarong Creek ~ the perfect spot to park up for a day with the family. Wind up? No worries ~ we’ll direct you to some hidden slices of paradise within 5 minutes drive ~ Long Beach North is the perfect spot to paddle around on sunset…
Board Hire :
We offer a range of fibreglass & soft top surfboards for daily hire.
$30/2 hours
$50/half day (4 hours)
Hire times are schedule to avoid the peak of the high + low tides to give you the best chance of good surf
Half day hire is for 4 hours
Boards provided will be soft top surfboards unless you have organised a fibreglass board with our CSS team
We cannot control the conditions, but we will give you expert guidance as to where to go to get the best waves on the day ~ please make the most of your opportunity to surf + arrive on time with an optimistic attitude!

Women’s Surf Lessons
A weekly get together of like minded, positive women who are keen to get in the surf, share a laugh + create community. Join us when you can (every week, fortnight, once a month, or just one off!), challenge yourself, and feel supported while doing so.. Xx
SUNDAY WOMEN’S LESSON: CURRENTLY ON HOLD
Cost: $30/pp using your own equipment (board & wetsuit), or $40pp, including equipment hire
When: Every Sunday, roughly 9:30-11am (may be slightly earlier or later due to tides)
Where: Currarong Beach. Head down to @peelscoffeeandjuicebar near 76 Warrain Crescent, Currarong for a post surf coffee or juice!
What: For ladies wanting to learn how to surf, improve fitness & confidence in the surf. Whether you’re starting at the basics, or you’re working on improving a particular skill ~ in our small, supportive, and encouraging group, you will have the opportunity to:
~ learn about` ocean safety and awareness, in the comfort of gentle rolling waves on Currarong Beach
~ learn correct paddling techniques
~ learn different pop-up techniques (based on what works best for you),
while being provided with constant support and feedback from Sam.
GOAL: have FUN! Get in the ocean, challenge yourself, make new friends, and #surfwithaSMILE! :)
FRIDAY PROGRESSOR WOMEN’S LESSON: CURRENTLY ON HOLD
Cost: $30/pp using your own equipment (board & wetsuit), or $40pp, including equipment hire
When: Every Friday, roughly 8/9am start ~ time varies due to conditions
Where: Between Culburra & Currarong (depending on swell and wind). Grab a coffee or chai post surf from our favourite smiling baristas, @Peelscoffeeandjuicebar in Currarong, or @ Frankie’s Coffee Van, Culburra.
What: For ladies wanting to progress beyond the basics of a beginner surfer. You will have the opportunity to:
~ increase your knowledge of ocean safety and awareness, surfboard control, & surfer etiquette
~ Improve your paddling techniques & fitness,
~ master different pop-up techniques (based on what works best for you), and
~ hone in on particular maneuvers, style & techniques
while being provided with constant support and feedback from Sam.
GOAL: have FUN! Get in the ocean, challenge yourself, improve your surf fitness & confidence, and #surfwithaSMILE! :)

Sam was a wonderfully patient and knowledgeable instructor for a family of four beginners. She quickly had everyone standing up and having fun. Sam was always encouraging and passing on helpful tips in a clear way. The lesson flew by. We all had a ball, including our teens.

Excellent beginners lesson. Booking and directions etc very easy. Into the wetsuit, quick safety briefing and instructions of basics on the beach, and then into the surf. Instructor, Sam, was very good and gave clear instructions in the water, always keeping you abreast of the conditions and providing a sense of everything under control.
A few unsuccessful attempts, corrections from Sam, and then ended up standing and catching a few waves.
It was a near perfect Currarong day, sun was shining, dolphins were out, a lot of positive energy and a great experience - now looking where to buy my own board.
Highly recommended for beginners (especially the more mature ones like me).

Currarong Surf School is one of the main reasons we choose Currarong as our family holiday destination. Our daughter Emilee loves Coach Sam and loves the Groms Surf Program. When the kids are happy on holiday, the parents are happy! Sam has a beautiful, kind and encouraging personality which make her the perfect coach and role model. We live in Newcastle but more than happy to travel to Currarong for this awesome surf program and enjoy a holiday in this amazing part of the world at the same time.
